Cheektouaga New York Dispatches
Open Question: Best/Cheapest way to to travel to NY?
hi, my friend emily and i are going on a trip to New York this summer by ourselves even though we are both only 13. We dont need to worry about hotels because we will both be staying with my aunt who has an apartment in Queens. Anyway, we are probably going at the end of June so we only have about 6 weeks to plan and save for the trip.
By the end of June we will probably have an estimated amount of a combined $400. We would leave here sometime during the morning or day of June 26 and return July 2, or so. We would be "unaccompanied minors" so we would have to pay a fee however we choose to get to NY. Anyway, we were wondering which would be the best choice to get to NY, plane or bus (greyhound or other), based on prices, how fast it would get us there, how complicated the "unaccompanied minors" business would be, etc.
We would like to have some leftover spending money while we our there. We dont want to spend more than $350 on transportation but if we have to, thats ok.
Thanks
I cant take a train because they DO NOT accept unaccompanied minors, thanks though

Resolved Question: Best auto auctions on the east coast?
I'm in NY but willing to travel. I heard police auto auctions have great deals on cars, sometimes like new cars. I also heard there's a great ones in PA, NJ and FL (any truth to this)? I'm not limited to these three states.
I'm looking for a BMW M3 E46/90/92 coupe BUT also considering Nissan Altima(08-12), Lexus (any model), Jeep (Wrangler Renegade/ sport).
I just wanted to hear about some experiences, knowledge of pricing and quality of merchandise at these police auto auctions. Please and thanks!! (also links to blogs/ forums appreciated).
P.S. PLEASE REAL ANSWERS ONLY, NO FUNNY BUSINESS PLEASE!

Voting Question: Was Chuck Schumer elected by NY or India?
He has promised India more jobs at the expense of American workers
http://profit.ndtv.com/News/Article/us-senator-promises-more-l1-h1b-visas-for-indians-300441
"I am working to try and change the immigration laws so more Indians can come (to the US). One of the things that Harry and I care a lot about is changing the visas. So more Indians can come here to travel," Schumer said.
He said while Indians, Chinese, Russians are keen to come to the US, "the visa laws are a little bit too restrictive so we are working on a bipartisan bill. Harry Reid is going to try to help us get it passed very fast."
Chatwal said Schumer assured him that concerns of Indian firms regarding work visas for their employees are being taken care of and that more visas would be issued to Indian businesses and corporations for their employees.

Resolved Question: Can I travel with EMployment Authorization Card inside US?
I need to get my mom to Denver from Cali at the end of May to exchange her Lithuanian passport that expires on May 8th. She has her final interview with INS on May 8th (how ironic) to get her green card, but it will take another 30 or more days for the green card to arrive in mail. We need to get to Denver on the specific day in May, because there are only 3 consulates from our country in the whole US, and they are making an extra trip for people who need consulate services, so we want to take advantage of the situation and instead of lying to NY during business days, we can make a faster-cheaper trip to Denver, and it can be made on Saturday. Now my question is, can she use her Work Authorization card as an ID to fly to Denver, since her passport will be 2 weeks expired and we are actually flying to renew it. Her entry visa has expired, but we have all the correspondance from INS showing that we are in the process of wating for a green card. I just don't want to get to the airport and not be able to board it.

Resolved Question: I'm thinking about going the solo route, but am confused on which..?
road would be preferable for me at this time. I have the option of either being a freelancer or a sole proprietor. I really don't have much funds at this time, and the business I would pursue is pretty low-budget, as I can do the bulk of the work online or in the client's office. Thus, it won't be a brick and mortar business, like a retail storefront. I have a friend who is working as a freelancer and he mentioned he filed as a D/B/A form to kick off his business, which he does mostly at home (it's in real estate); he does sometimes travel to courthouses when he needs to file documents for clients; he lives in my county here in NY. I'm not sure if that's the way for me to go or not. I was advised by a small business counselor to go the sole proprietorship route. I have a paralegal background and figured I could offer such services this year on my own. I have been looking high and low for a full-time staff position but have landed no offers so far. It'll be a year of unemployment for me in a few weeks. I'd appreciate your feedback. My business plan is to hopefully develop a list of client law offices who would contact me to come in to work on hourly projects each week, or if possible, have me bring files home to work on.. I could also handle data entry type responsibilities for them if they provided me remote access to their databases, and could work on projects off my laptop.
I'd also like to know what would be the key differences to work as a freelancer as opposed to as a sole proprietor. Thank you.

Voting Question: Do women think I am too good to be true?
I am really beginning to feel like I will never experience a relationship. I am a regular, single, straight, 32 year old male from NY, who is currently working on a doctorate (juris). I have never had a girlfriend or even a first kiss. I have gone on maybe two or three dates in my entire life, all of which took place about 10 years ago. Since then I have not met anyone that was both eligible and mutually interested in dating me. People told me when I was in high school that I'd have a bunch of girlfriends - nope. Then people told me I would have too many girlfriends to count in college - nope. So when does it all happen? I am always looking! I am involved with my community and church, school. I am constantly around people to meet but I come up with nothing; I don't avoid people either, I am quite sociable.
My friends and acquaintances are telling me to hurry up as it will get more and more difficult as I get older. I am also told that my "still" living at home will be a major turn off to girls. I don't get that at all, because that's really only an issue if you want to engage in premarital sex. I am strongly opposed to premarital sex, and if privacy is desired, we can go for a drive or to someplace with fewer people around. My living at home is not likely an issue, nor is it really even the business of any potential dates - at least not initially.
Another thing I hear is that my lack of interests is hurting - and will continue to hurt - my chances of attracting a lady. I do not like traveling, dancing, sports, concerts, etc. I am into reading, coins and working on my career. I think I would be great one on one with a lady and would be more than capable of entertaining her. I would also be somewhat flexible if she wanted to do something in which I was not interested.
What do you think about all of this? Could it be that women think I am too good to be true?

Resolved Question: Have you checked your states unclaimed funds lately?
Have you checked your unclaimed funds list lately. You may be on it. I have found a lot of local people on the list. Many have had money they didn't know about.
Here is the search site for NY
https://ouf.osc.state.ny.us/ouf/
Here's a phone number for PA
Approximately one in ten Pennsylvanians have unclaimed property – do you? Search your name and the names of your friends and family in the Unclaimed Property database or call 1-800-222-2046. Or http://www.patreasury.gov/Unclaimed/Search.html
LOOK FOR YOUR STATE IN A WEB SEARCH.
To better insure that your on the proper web site your search should say "your state" unclaimed funds, and the words on the bottom of the search page should have a government listing for your state. All others are out to get your cash. When in doubt check your local phone book for government listings.
Yes this is the same thing that was seen on Montel and Oprah. But they were trying to get you to pay the network to search. Usually a state does not charge a fee.
The money can be a refund for an old phone bill, or electric etc... Or a HUD refund you forgot about. A last pay check you did not receive. An old insurance claim etc...
If you have traveled you may also turn up in different states. For restaurant refunds, travel refunds, lost baggage or items, etc...
Schools, businesses, non profit organizations and even actors and actresses end up on the list. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH!
People usually check these things at home, and home seems to get more traffic.
So that is where I will list my question.
Grayson and Mary: First Grayson. Yes they do put you through hoops to prove you are the actual legal recipient. My mother in laws took over a year. But there was a rather large sum of money from a "almost 50 year old" insurance claim. Others got there money in about a week. It depends on what the claim is. Also some states specify on there web site as to where the money came from. Such as REPORTED BY then the companies name the money came from. Some times insurance, a refund from utility company x, etc... I know that not every state does it the same.
MARY: You do not have to pay for a web site that shows the different state government offices that handle these claims. You can find them online for FREE, or get out your phone book. When you paid for your information, you basically paid to fill some ones pocket.
TO ALL: If you get a letter in the mail stating you have unclaimed money, don't reply. These people want 25 to 30 percent commission for what you can do for
